K – Knowledge – Being Active

If you’re beginning to exercise for the first time, it’s been a while since you were last active, or you’re a long-time exerciser, we want you to get off to a great start with Walk Across Texas! Whether this is your first year or you’ve participated many times, encouragement is key. Any amount of movement - at any pace - contributes to your physical activity goals, and especially to your health and well-being. Learn more with these Tips for Starting Physical Activity; and if you’re a long-time exerciser, checkout the ideas on overcoming physical activity roadblocks and how to stay motivated.

Maybe you’re wondering how much physical activity you need to do, or if activities other than walking count toward your efforts. All intentional physical activity counts, and you might be surprised how much activity you’re able to add in throughout the day with a little team spirit and support to keep you going. Learn more about How Much Physical Activity Adults Need, and how to go about Adding Physical Activity to Your Life. Also, look at our Activity Equivalents to see how to calculate your mileage for activities other than walking.
